"In the past I have tried alot of different exercises for my Lats, bents over rows, dumbell rows, supine rows etc. I have tried keeping my arms in close to the side of my body and out away from my body and nothing really seemed to hit my lats hard enough to make them grow. Beyond Brawn has turned me on to deadlifting and I,m going on 3 months now deadlifting once a week. My lats are starting to grow like never before, I can really feel it when I put on shirts that are now getting tight in the back and also when I do curls, its like my lats are getting in the way of my arms lying flat against my sides when I do barbell curls."
Thomas Bourg et le SDT :
"Remember that muscles can also work as stabilizers. When you deadlift, the bar wants to pull you down everywhere. Your lats and other muscles must stabilize the load. You could not deadlift if your lats allowed the bar to pull your shoulder girdle forward, all kinds of nasty things would happen to your back. The lats are literally stopping the weight from pulling your shoulders away from your body (other muscles help also, of course).
Another point is that when you pull the shoulders back at the end of the lift, the lats also work very hard.
The wide-grip bench press works lats well, also.
For a super lat workout, try stiff-legged deadlifts with a wide grip. Allow the shoulders to be pulled forward for a "stretch" at the bottom of the lift and pull them back at the end of the lift."
autre témoignage :
"Done chins, barbell rows, one arm rows, pull downs cables etc, but nothing i repeat nothing made my back grow like DEADLIFTS, get into those heavy lifts off the ground and watch that back thicken up"
