Hello,
I bought a green pan 3 months ago in the supermarket Migros, in Switzerland. Unfortunately and despite of a very careful use (low temperature) and regular proper cleaning, my pan turned very dirty, sticky and therefore hard to use after already a couple of days. I am very disappointed about that.
I tried to wash it with vinegar, to let a bit of a mix of vinegar and soap stir in it, but got no positive results. Could you give me an advice to "save" my pan? If a picture of it is needed, I could send one to you. How would I need to handle a new pan not to have this problem again if this one is irrecoverable, because I really would like to encourage your project and philosophy.
Thank you in advance
Regards
Dear Alain,
I'm sorry to read that your pan is not performing as it should.
Feel free to send me an image of the pan as it is quite difficult for me to judge what went wrong.
If the frying surface shows a brownish discoloration it could point out that the frying surface is covered with a thin layer of carbonised oil.
As the Thermolon(tm) coating provides an excellent heat conduction it could be that the pan became to hot and thereby burned some oil.
This carbonised layer lowers the non-stick properties and unfortunately is hard to remove.
If soaking and reseasoning isn't restoring your pan I would suggest you bring the pan back to the store were you have purchased it.
They are able to provide warranty.
Feel free to contact me if you have further questions.
Kind regards
Thank you for the image.
Indeed it clearly shows burned oil.
In your case I would return the pan to Migros in order to get it replaced. (normally burned oil and overheating is not covered by a warranty but you can return it anyway, I’m sure they’ll replace it)
So if you receive your new pan, try to use less heat when cooking.
You’ll notice that is goes fast enough. Always start with a clean pan and avoid abrasive sponges. The reason why our frying surface is grey is that you would be able to monitor what is happening with your food when cooking.
Other non-stick fry pans have black surfaces. In that way they hide possible burning marks.
Feel free to contact me if you need further assistance.
Regards,
