Problem is in wide grip. Gravity forces shoulders in external rotation, using our own arms as lever. Our internal rotators are too weak to work against such forces. Also, gravity tend to hyperextend elbow in lockout. Exactly same as in incline and flat bench press, and wide grip chin-ups.
There is no such problem if narrow, shoulder-wide grip is used, however, one is always challenged to use wider grip, because more weight can be lifted. With dumbells, it doesn't happen, moreover we can deliberately rotate shoulders as we want to make movement most comfortable. Especially with alternative arms, we can adjust position of the body with more freedom. Try it, and I believe you'll find that this exercise is pure pleasure, unlike military press which is always somewhere on the edge. Be careful while you lift dumbel to the shoulder level, if necessary use both arms for that.
If it is too late, and you are already injured, you might need few weeks Ibuprofen cure, and then some rest, maybe 2-3 months.

Ils proposent le développé haltère d'UN BRAS et considèrent le WIDE grip (prise large au DC et au DM) comme dangereux...
Arthur Jones explique que le DC prise large est non seulement dangereux mais inefficace comparé à du DC prise largeur épaules ou mieux du DM largeur épaule car pour Arthur Dc ou Dc prise serrée, ca reste TRES inférieur au DM. La prise large selon Arthur empechant tout stretch sur les pecs. Perso je fais toujours mon DM avec un prise largeur épaules, pas large comme le DC !
